We get a lot of questions from potential customers. To simplify things, we have decided to post answers to these commonly asked questions here for everyone to see. Don’t worry, you can ask us a question from this list if you talk to us in person, we won’t mind.

You’ll find that we’re below what other business in the interior design industry charges, especially for smaller projects less than 40 hours. Most firms won’t even touch projects of that size, which is the main reason we formed Design Inside. We believe that everyone deserves a well designed interior space.
We are commonly asked this question; however there is not an easy answer. Once a project begins, you will be in constant communication with us. We do a lot of work by email and phone since it is an incredibly efficient form of communication, and allows quicker turn-around time. Typically, we send project plans, product selections, and bounce ideas off of each other by email. We will also have periodic conference calls. Often times, about once or twice during a project, a designer will come to your project site and review the project. It is amazing how much can be accomplished in an hour on-site meeting.
We charge a fee for specifying and supervising your contractor or ours. This includes the time a designer spends with you working on something not associated with the products we supply. This fee is set after the designer determines the scope of the job and you have hired a contractor. Since the work we do in each home varies we do not have a set fee.
Yes, we have many different types of subcontractors that we work with on a regular basis and can highly recommend. If you are look for re-upholstering, custom window treatments, carpet installation, wallpaper installation, custom built-ins we have the right person for you. We are happy to work with your builder, general contractor or any other contractor you would like to work with.
Whether you need a little help or a lot, from answers to a few questions on color selection or furniture layout to help on planning and completing a complicated remodel or new construction project, the advice and guidance of an Interior Designer is invaluable. Having a professional Interior Designer on your team who has the knowledge and experience of countless similar projects as well as the information and expertise for finding the exact products and trades-people you need to get the best result for your project is priceless. Working with an Interior Designer will help you to move seamlessly and efficiently through the project, as well as help you prevent costly mistakes or side-steps along the way.
While it is true that many retail establishments may offer “free” advice and assistance, and that sometimes, though not always, those consultants may be very good at what they do, it is also true that although the advice they offer you is “free,” they definitely are not working for “free” and their primary allegiance and obligation is to their employer.
While a good designer can help you at any stage of the design, it is most advantageous for you to begin your work with a designer at the earliest stages of the design. As with almost any process, a good plan in place as early as possible is the best route to success. Collect clippings from magazines and photos of items and decors that appeal to you. Or the link to your Pinterest Boards of your ideas Think about colors, styles and effects you like. Know what you want to accomplish, what the room or house should do for you when finished. Should it be formal or casual, traditional or contemporary? Know your objective and lifestyle needs. Establish a time frame in which you would like to work Have a budget in mind and be honest about it with your designer. Having a ball park figure is a good start.
